I relate to this, except it was my white dad struggling with my hair. He’d usually just put it into one big fat ponytail. I’d frequently get asked by people, “Is that your real dad?”
“Were you adopted?”
I relate to the rejection by black kids as well. I was criticized for not being “black” enough. I’ve heard the phrases “Oreo” and...
